Parents and Family

The college years can be a time of growth and excitement, but it can also be a time of change and adjustment. Students often face various challenges, such as coping with increased independence and responsibility, choosing a career path, navigating new relationships (e.g., friends, romantic partners, professors, supervisors), and reassessing their values and identity. Sometimes these challenges lead to feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, or depression.

Parents are often among the first to notice when their students are experiencing difficulties. The Counseling Center staff is available to discuss any concerns you may have and answer your questions regarding our services. The privacy of communication between clients and mental health professionals is protected by law, however, therefore information about your student cannot be disclosed without their written consent.

Our goal is to help your student succeed in adjusting to the University of Miami and achieving their academic and personal goals.
