Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment includes verbal or physical abuse of a sexual nature such as unwanted comments about someone’s body, sexually degrading remarks, or unwelcome propositions or advances. Sexual harassment also includes threats and insinuations that sexual submission will be used as a basis for employment, advancement or educational decisions.

The University of Miami prohibits sexual harassment of or by any student. There are both informal and formal grievance procedures in place for resolving harassment complaints. Every school and college has a designated sexual harassment counselor to whom you may talk confidentially about your complaint. To find out who your designated counselor is, call the Equality Administration Office at (305) 284-3064. SART. volunteers (305) 798-6666 can also direct you to the appropriate counselor and can help you explore your options for handling sexual harassment complaints.
